What a great event!

I was thrilled to meet my Joomla Hero, Henk von Pickartz, the developer of Simple Caddy, a wonderfully simple shopping cart extension that I have used for years. Read about it in the Joomla Extensions Directory.

Also a thrill to meet Geraint Edwards of JEvents and Joomfish. Not every day you can talk to someone who has contributed so much to Joomla!

Many great presentations at all levels. You can read about them on the JoomlaDayNYC site. We will be posting the presentations from our speakers and embed links to the video streams as well.

Oh, and I was the party planner for the event. House of Brews provided a great venue for our party with good food, good beer, and a fantastic staff! I'm thinking we should assemble there every month after our monthy Joomla Users Group meeting.

Joseph Bui has improved and expanded the Stay Open plugin that Gary Mort first created in 2009.

The Stay Open Plugin originally kept the session open on the front end until the browser closed. This allowed front end editors to stay logged in until they closed the browser, rather than be logged out if they reached maximum session time. Well, now Joseph Bui has rewritten the Stay Open Plugin to include the back end as well.

Hallelujah!

Now I can roam around and make as many cups of coffee as I want and I never get logged off. Can I say that again a little louder???

Hallelujah!

And, he wrote it to be 1.5, 1.6, and 1.7 compatible. I love my Gotham Websites colleagues!

Yes, web developers frequently neglect their own websites. Joseph and I finally decided to update our website, and it has been harder than I thought it would be.

When I organize content for a client, I can see the basic architecture very clearly. I know what categories I have to create and how to best highlight their content. I know what menus will make site navigation easy and intuitive. I see the layout that will be most attractive and accessible.

Not what happens when you are working on your own site.

We  work hard on interesting sites, and I hope to include them on this website to show some example of that interesting work we do and the interesting people we meet doing it.
